Installation of a Multi-Site Mitel Phone System
Caterham Cars have been building the ‘Seven’ sports car for over 40 years, based at their main assembly facility in Dartford Kent, and are one of the UK’s most iconic sports car brands. In addition to producing the Caterham ‘Seven’, which continues to be exported to markets all around the world, they also organise the UK’s largest single-make Motorsport championship.
- To enforce a streamlined, business efficient communication system between two sites.

Reasons for change
With Cavendish supplying telephony to the Dartford site for many years, a key driver for Caterham was to re-consolidate all services to a single provider, after opening new offices in the Gatwick area.

“With the deployment of two new IP-based phone systems into two separate premises and around 60 handsets to configure, there would always be scope for disruption to services. Cavendish ensured that the system switch was as seamless as possible. Training for the new handsets and features were delivered on-site at the two premises by the Cavendish team.
Benefits to the business
Caterham now benefit from smooth communication between two sites and are able to route customer calls easily.
Cavendish recommended a new Mitel MiVoice IP based system for both sites. For the first time, the sites were able to communicate as if one premise, through internal extensions. All users were also given constant presence awareness, by utilising the Phone Manager software on all desktops.
“It’s great being able to maintain a searchable global contact list, integration to Outlook, double-click dialling from desktops and multiple level auto attendant and in-bound call routing options. We’re also looking forward to monthly cost reductions as a result of transitioning to SIP.”
