Recycle Your Mobiles for Charity
There are an estimated 49 million mobile phone subscribers in the UK and the average mobile phone user will replace their handset once every 18 months.
Apparently, close to 90 million phones are hiding in homes and offices across the UK (11250 tonnes) - these weigh almost six times as much as the London Eye!
The Cavendish Charity Scheme
Cavendish Communications has joined with St Wilfrid’s Hospice in Eastbourne by collecting unwanted mobile phones for recycling, enabling the Hospice to raise funds.
Money raised through the scheme will be put towards Campaign Hospice Reach—the hospice’s new campaign to transform end of life care in our community. As part of the campaign the hospice is building a new hospice in Eastbourne, due for completion in 2013.
Next time you upgrade, please hand your old phones - regardless of their age or condition - even if they are faulty or locked - to your account manager or a Cavendish engineer and they will be recycled by the hospice to raise much needed funds.
