Private Leased Circuits

A private leased circuit is a permanent data connection between two locations set up by a communications carrier.
Typically, private leased circuits are used by businesses to connect two or more geographically distant offices and provide high quality, cost effective and reliable communications.

Unlike normal dial-up connections, a leased line is always active and doesn't carry anybody else's communications, therefore providing an assured level of quality for a fixed monthly rate.

Increasingly, leased lines are being used by companies for Internet access because they afford faster data transfer rates and are cost-effective if the Internet is used heavily. Likewise if you are using an Internet based telephone system and all calls and data are shared over (or converged onto) one network it is important to ensure you have sufficient capacity or bandwidth in your communications link for high quality voice traffic.
